The beauty industry has come together, as many companies are stepping up to do their part to help during the coronavirus pandemic. 

The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) has announced its COVID-19 Relief Support Plan — and it includes producing one of the world’s most-needed products, hand sanitizer. The company says it has reopened its manufacturing facility in Melville, NY, to do this. See the Instagram post below. 
 
Here is the official statement:  

“The Estée Lauder Companies is proud to contribute to the broader COVID-19 relief efforts by reopening our Melville manufacturing facility this week to produce hand-sanitizer for high-need groups and populations, including front-line medical staff. We are grateful to our employees who have worked tirelessly to make this possible. Compensated, employee volunteers will support this vital, meaningful effort.”

ELC also stated that it hopes to help “ease the related economic hardships faced by the communities in which we live and work,” and “has made contributions to support the well-being of our global communities.”

Coty and LVMH are also producting hand sanitizer, and more. 

ELC Supports a Fund for NYC

ELC has provided a grant to help establish The NYC COVID-19 Response & Impact Fund, administered by the New York Community Trust. 

Multiple philanthropic partners are coming together to help in this joint effort to address the current coronavirus health crisis, ELC states. The new $75 million fund will provide critical support for New York City’s vital social services and cultural community organizations.

Helping Globally

ELC and its corporate foundation, The Estée Lauder Companies Charitable Foundation, have also provided funding to the following organizations:

• A $2 million grant was awarded to Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières to support their continued life-saving work around the world in under-resourced and highly impacted countries.


• In China, over $800,000 was awarded to relief efforts. Funds will support the Red Cross Society of China, Shanghai Charity Foundation and Give2Asia. Additionally, $1.4 million worth of in-kind donations were provided to the China Women’s Development Foundation to support front line medical staff.
